What is KONTAKT PLAYER?

KONTAKT PLAYER is an application that hosts all of Native Instruments’ sample-based instruments, as well as third-party products made for the platform. KONTAKT PLAYER is designed to share inspirational sounds and instruments with our users. This free version of KONTAKT comes with 50 instruments and a 500 MB sound library, and provides access to an extensive collection of instruments and libraries from creators all over the world.

KONTAKT PLAYER vs KONTAKT

KONTAKT PLAYER is a free sample player based on KONTAKT. The PLAYER focuses on the key performance and editing aspects of the sound engine, while KONTAKT gives full access to building and editing tools that are the foundation for all KONTAKT PLAYER instruments. Key differences between the PLAYER and the full version of KONTAKT include:

Instrument Editing :

The full version of KONTAKT provides additional Instrument editing and routing options, including Effects, Filters, Modulation, and Source modules.

Libraries :

Unlicensed libraries and some third-party libraries are incompatible with KONTAKT PLAYER, and require the full version of KONTAKT. To find out which third-party libraries are powered by KONTAKT PLAYER, check the third-party manufacturer’s product page or see Third-party Sample Libraries.

KSP :

The full version of KONTAKT contains Instrument building tools that enable you to create your own KONTAKT Instruments. For more information, refer to the KSP Reference Manual.

Demo :

Some KONTAKT features are available in the PLAYER for 15 minutes in demo mode, indicated by DEMO text on the interface. Use demo mode to explore these additional tools and delve deeper into the world of KONTAKT. To learn more about KONTAKT, visit KONTAKT 6.
