Short Introduction
The CodeMeter protection key (software or hardware-based) represents your license to use Archicad. You can use it to transfer the license from one machine to another. It is also possible to borrow a license for a particular machine for a limited time, without having to transfer the physical network protection key itself. Thus, the CodeMeter technology significantly reduces the risk of a lost or stolen hardware key.
An office using Archicad will probably have one network key and several CodeMeter keys (software-based license keys or physical CodeMeter keyplugs). If the user plans to be out of the office or offline, three options are available:
- The CmStick can be used to borrow a license from the site. Archicad will run on any machine to which this CmStick is physically attached.
- A license file can be bound to the user’s computer, so there is no need to carry along an extra hardware device.
- Upload Software Key to the Company License Pool and download it onto another machine.
In the first two cases, the user borrows the license for a fixed period. The license can be returned by the user, or else it will expire automatically when the borrowing period ends; at this time, the license again becomes available for borrowing from the site key.
Please keep in mind that if a computer is damaged or the CmStick is lost, the user cannot return the borrowed license, which thus remains unavailable until the borrowing period expires. So it makes sense to set borrowing time limits wisely.

Important Notes before Installation
- When installing CodeMeter you must be logged on as a member of the Administrator Group.
- The drivers below were tested by Graphisoft to use with Archicad. To activate purchased licenses on your key, follow our activation steps: https://www.graphisoft.com/downloads/licensing/
- Before uninstalling or installing CodeMeter drivers on computers from/to which CodeMeter licenses were borrowed, it is very important to make sure that all licenses are returned!
- Remove the keyplug before you are installing the driver.
- Please quit the browser during the WibuKey driver installation.
CodeMeter Drivers
For Archicad 10 to Archicad 26
Download the appropriate installer for your computer’s operating system. By double-clicking on the downloaded file the installer wizard will automatically start and guide you through the rest of the installation.
This CodeMeter driver version can be used with Archicad version 10 to version 26.
If you want to use Archicad version 10 to version 12 with a CodeMeter protection key please install the CodeMeter Enabler.

- macOS: Start “CmUninstall” application within the downloaded installer package to remove all CodeMeter components from your computer.
CodeMeter Protection Key Updater
With the macOS 10.13 (High Sierra), Apple introduced strict policy regarding the USB devices which use Kernel Extension. CodeMeter hardware keys distributed by Graphisoft use Kernel Extension 3G. Note for MAC users:
- WibuKey driver requires Java 6 to work properly. If it is not present on your computer use the Java 6u32 installer to install Java 6 separately. Running Wibu Server on macOS can result in connection issues.
- The WibuKey Driver version 6.52 brings macOS 10.15 Catalina compatibility.
Note for users on Windows 8 and later: this driver only runs with single WibuKey.

CodeMeter Enabler Downloads
CodeMeter Enabler lets you run Archicad 10, 11, and 12 with a CodeMeter hardware key.
Note: this tool was only available for users with Archicad 13 or later licenses.
Notes
- CodeMeter enabler is available on WindowsandIntel Mac platforms. CodeMeter is not supported on Mac PPC systems.
- Make sure your Archicad is up-to-date: use ‘Check for Updates…’ command in Archicad’s Help menu. CodeMeter enabler will only work with a minimum Archicad build 2815.
- Do not remove the WibuKey driver from your system. Both CodeMeter and WibuKey drivers need to be installed.
